Equipment

  • Cast iron skillet
  • Glass mixing bowl
  • Measuring cups
  • Measuring spoons
  • Whisk
  • Spatula

Ingredients

  • 10 pieces of Texas toast bread or any other thick sliced bread homemade sourdough bread will work great as well
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp vanilla powder
  • 4 tbsp granulated sugar
  • Unsalted butter for frying
  • Optional: Fresh berries or fruits
  • Optional: Powdered sugar

Instructions

  • Start out with 3 eggs and 1 cup milk. Mix well.
  • Add in cinnamon, vanilla and sugar. Mix until everything is well incorporated.
  • Using a cast iron skillet melt 1 tbsp of butter on medium heat. I love using Texas toast bread for this recipe because it's cut into thick slices. If you're using homemade sourdough bread make sure you slice the bread into an inch thick slices.
  • Mix the milk mixture every time before placing the bread in. Place one piece of bread in the milk mixture and flip over to evenly coat the whole piece. Do not soak it or else it will all fall apart.
  • Place in the heated skillet and fry each side for about 5 mins or until golden.
  • To serve you can layer 3 French toasts and cut diagonally.
  • Drizzle pure maple syrup and enjoy!
  • Option step: is to dust some powdered sugar or add some colorful berries on top.

Notes

*I like to serve French toast with bacon and fried eggs to complete a full and hearty breakfast. We have a large family of 5 so this recipe is perfect because it makes about 10 peices of French toast.
