How to store sourdough brownies:

  • Room Temperature: Sourdough brownies can be stored at room temperature for 2-3 days in an airtight container. Make sure the container is sealed well to prevent them from drying out.
  • Refrigeration: If you want to extend the shelf life, you can refrigerate sourdough brownies. Place them in an airtight container or wrap them tightly in plastic wrap. This can keep them fresh for up to a week.

How to freeze sourdough brownies:

Sourdough brownies freeze well, making them suitable for longer storage. Follow these steps:
  • Allow the brownies to cool completely.
  • Cut them into individual portions or as desired.
  • Wrap each brownie piece tightly in plastic wrap.
  • Place the wrapped brownies in a freezer bag or airtight container.
  • Label with the date for easy tracking.
  • Freeze for up to 2-3 months.

Thawing Frozen Brownies:

  • To thaw frozen sourdough brownies, simply transfer them from the freezer to the refrigerator overnight or let them sit at room temperature for a few hours. Once thawed, you can warm them in the oven or microwave if desired.

Tips for freezing brownies:

  • Prevent Moisture: Moisture can affect the texture of brownies. If refrigerating or freezing, ensure the brownies are well wrapped to prevent condensation. You can also place a sheet of parchment paper between layers to prevent sticking.
  • Avoid Odor Absorption: Store sourdough brownies away from strong-smelling foods in the refrigerator or freezer to prevent them from absorbing unwanted odors.
  • Slice Before Freezing: If you plan to freeze sourdough brownies, consider slicing them into individual portions before freezing. This allows you to thaw and enjoy only the amount you need at a given time.
  • Seal Airtight: Whether storing at room temperature, in the refrigerator, or in the freezer, use airtight containers or proper wrapping to prevent the brownies from drying out or developing freezer burn.
