The irresistible goodness of this sourdough marble loaf cake is truly amazing. With a slight tang from the sourdough blended with the sweet vanilla and rich chocolate making this treat perfect for a tea party, special brunch, or a surprise treat for your family. The texture is moist and tender, adding to the overall enjoyment of this simple yet delicious cake.
In the kitchen aid mixer cream the 2/3 cup softened butter with 2/3 cup granulated sugar. For 3 minutes on medium speed until light and creamy.
Add in 3 eggs. Mix for 1 minute.
Next add 1 tsp vanilla and 60 grams Greek yogurt. Mix for 1 minute.
Add in 1/2 cup sourdough starter and mix for 1 minute.
Divide the wet ingredients mixture in two portions. Set aside.
Mix Dry Ingredients (Vanilla):
In a separate mixing bowl measuring out 105 grams flour, 1 tsp baking powder, 1/4 tsp salt.
Whisk and set aside.
Mix Dry Ingredients (Chocolate):
In a separate mixing bowl measuring out 80 grams flour, 25 grams unsweetened cocoa powder, 1 tsp baking powder, 1/4 tsp salt.
Whisk and set aside.
Make batter:
Add the dry vanilla ingredients into one half of the wet ingredients.
Mix well to incorporate and hydrate the dry ingredients.
In a separate bowl add the chocolate dry ingredients with the second half of the wet ingredients.
Assemble:
Butter the inside of the loaf pan or line with parchment paper.
Pour 3/4 of the vanilla batter first and spread evenly. Using a knife make a zig zag in the batter to create more of the marble effect. Do not over mix or the chocolate and vanilla will mix into one batter color.
Add 3/4 of the chocolate batter next and spread evenly. Using a knife make a zig zag in the batter to create more of the marble effect.
Spread the remaining 1/4 of the vanilla batter and using a knife make a zig zag in the batter to create more of the marble effect.
Add the remaining 1/4 chocolate and using a knife make a zig zag in the batter to create more of the marble effect.
Bake:
Preheat your oven to 350°F.
Bake for 45 min or until a toothpick or knife comes out clean when placed in the middle.
Cool, slice, and serve.
