Tools you might need:
Ingredients:
- Sourdough starter: You can use fed or unfed sourdough starter. It adds the slight tangy flavor to the cake along with contributing to the leavening of the batter.
- Butter: Butter adds richness and moisture to the cake. Softened unsalted butter is easier to incorporate into the batter.
- Granulated sugar: Sugar sweetens the cake and contributes to its texture. It also aids in browning during baking.
- Eggs: Eggs act as a binding agent and provide structure to the cake. They also contribute to moisture and richness.
- Vanilla extract: Vanilla extract enhances the overall flavor of the cake, adding a sweet and aromatic note.
- Greek yogurt: Greek yogurt adds moisture and a creamy texture to the cake. It also contributes a subtle tanginess.
- Salt:Salt enhances the flavor of the other ingredients, balancing the sweetness and providing depth.
- Baking powder: Baking powder helps the cake rise, creating a light and fluffy texture. I recommend Bob’s Red Mill Baking Powder.
- Flour: Flour is a basic structural component. King Arthurs All- Purpose Flour or King Arthurs Bread Flour will work.
- Unsweetened cocoa powder: Cocoa powder gives the chocolate portion of the cake its rich flavor and deep color.
